HW A319 Lufthansa Italia

In February 2009 Lufthansa Italia established flight operations only to European capitals to start with – Germany deliberately exempt. To this end, an initial pair of former German Wings Airbus A319s were converted and presented to the Italian public featuring the original Lufthansa livery and equipment, plus the discreet gray addition of “Italia”. The original of this model is D-AKNJ with the name of the city “Milano”. Meanwhile, Lufthansa Italia has also taken up domestic air traffic and plans long-haul routes from Milan-Malpensa.

HW B737-400 Lufthansa Express

In 1992, Lufthansa purchased six Boeing 737-430 aircraft, including the D-ABKK “Weimar”, the original of this model. Between 1994 and 1995, all six machines were operated for the German air service Lufthansa Express to counter the threat of upcoming low-cost carriers á la Ryanair and Easyjet. The plane will be released as a limited edition of 1,800 models, and completes the Lufthansa passenger jet series in the Herpa Collection.

HW ERJ-190 Finnair

Even up north, the Brazilian twinjet regional airplane is doing a roaring trade. With no alternatives on offer from established manufacturers, Finnair has ordered twenty-three Embraer E-Jets, thirteen of them as 190-100LRs. OH-LKI arrived in Helsinki in October 2005. The model will be released as a limited edition with laterally mounted wings.

HW IL-86 Aeroflot

Although the first development work for the IL-86 already took place in the late 1960s it was commissioned by Aeroflot as late as 1980. The original of this new model with the registration CCCP-86015 will be released with its first livery of the prototype as presented in 1971.

HW C-130 Hellenic Air Force 356 Transport Squadron

The Greek air force operates twelve transport airplanes type C-130 Hercules. Depicted on the C-130H’s rudder with the military registration 752 is the Greek national hero Hercules. With this livery, the 356th transport squadron was awarded “Best Livery Winner” at the Royal International Air Tatoo (RIAT) in Fairford (Great Britain) in 2007, the largest military airshow worldwide.

Of the four manufactured “Super Guppy” transport airplanes – Boeing’s remodeled Stratocruiser – NASA took on number 4 with the registration F-GSTD. Today, it is registered in the USA as N941NA, and is operated as a NASA transporter within the framework of a cooperation program between the European and the American space agencies.
