Kavkazskie Mineralnye Vody, or KMV for short, is headquartered in the city that carries the same name, located in the Russian Caucasus region. In English, the name of the airline and the region's capital mean nothing more than "mineral water", something for which the region is famous. The airline is one of a handful of airlines that use the most modern Russian aircraft type. Less than half a dozen of these new aircraft are currently used for commercial flying activities, and half of the airlines use them as cargo planes.
