  • Description

The “Southern Zephyr” was transferred to Australia on December 5, 1957 and began regular flight operations on the Sydney-Hong Kong route on December 30. Just two weeks later, it started on a round-the-world flight together with a sister plane flying in the opposite direction. VH-EAP flew westward on the so-called "kangaroo route" while a second constellation set off eastward across the Pacific. It took her six days to complete the circumnavigation, with a flight duration of 128 hours.
