While most of the little four-engine planes used by NJS are operated for Qantas AirLink, the original of this model, registration VH-NJA, is one of just a handful of planes that NJS operates itself. The airline maintains only a few routes, among them one to Christmas Island. Otherwise, its business focuses on complementing Qantas flights for the Australian government, guarding the coastline, and offering maintenance services as well as business charter flights.

The original of this model is the BAe 146-200 with the registration YR-BEA, that was added to the fleet last May.
