Boeing 787-8

Entering commercial service in 2011 with All Nippon Airways (ANA), the Boeing 787-8 is the initial, smallest variant of the "Dreamliner" family.

Whereas the 767 represented the move to twin-engine long-haul flying, and the 747-400 represented the move to digital cockpits, the 787 represents the move away from metal. It is the first commercial airliner with an airframe constructed primarily of composite materials (carbon fiber reinforced plastic) rather than aluminum. More information below.
